OR

  • 1- Find a camera.

Webcam, smartphone, tablet, photo camera (with video option) or video camera. (!) If you use a smartphone, make sure to record your video horizontally (landscape) for better viewing.

  • 2-Make sure to have a good quality sound source.

    • Record while being indoors (otherwise you risk having the wind blow into the mic) and as much as possible eliminate any other noise sources (turn off the frig, washing machine, phone, etc).
    • Stay close to the mic. The closer you are, the better the mic will record your voice and not your surroundings.
    • You can also get a lavalier microphone, they can attach to your clothes and plug into your phone.
  • 3-Pay a special attention to framing and lighting.

    • We want to see you! Take the time to find a place with the best lighting. It is key to a clear image with good quality. If it is too dark, use some lamps to light it up.
    • Avoid windows in the background. A backlighting effect would not be advantageous to your performance.
    • A tripod is a must to film yourself. But if it is someone filming you, they have to stand still while holding the camera (no movement or zoom should be allowed).
    • You must be alone in the frame and centered.
    • While filming, try to have a neutral background with the least amount of distracting things in it.
  • 4-Identify yourself.

    • Take a few seconds to identify yourself, either before you begin a scene or in a separate take. This is necessary only if you didn’t named your file properly. (!) Full name, agency and the part you are auditioning for.
    • Try to look good, wear clothing related to your character or something neutral. Wear makeup if need be.
    • Make sure to have a good reader, ideally a friend actor, who won’t be in frame.
    • Record 2 to 3 versions of the scene, and have a different approach for each take.
  • 5-Record your video in a universal format.

    • There are plenty of options in video format (.mov, .mp4, .avi, .wmv, etc). However, not all of them are compatible with every softwares and video players. So, if you want certainty we will be able to watch your video, we recommend recording in .MOV or .MP4 format.
    • It is possible to use a certain website to convert your video in a different format. We recommend to following one, quick and easy to use : http://convert-video-online.com/
    • This website gives you also the possibility to compress your video, making it less heavier. A video should rarely exceed 300 Mo.
    • Don’t forget to name your file before sending it (ex: PROJECT TITLE_first name LAST NAME of the actor.mov).
  • 6-Send your video.

The maximum file weight you can send by E-mail is usually 25Mo. It is preferable to use a free data sharing website. Those are easy to use and free of access, they offer a good alternative when files are too heavy to be sent by E-mail.

    Here are a few examples:

    https://wetransfer.com/ (up to 2GB)

    https://www.grosfichiers.com/ (up to 4GB)

(!) Do not put your video on an online video watching website (youtube, vimeo, dailymotion, etc.) We won’t be able to download it or link it with the watching list of the project.

(!) Respect, as much as possible, the deadline of submission to send in your video.

Some people were born with a talent for doing voice work. However, even those talented few find it extremely beneficial to take courses in speech, voice and diction. If you have this type of training, or even if you are just starting, your next step should be to cut a voice demo. There is quite a lot of work in voice: it's a lot of fun and you could make a career out of it, or just a hobby. Once you have your voice demo, it will be your responsibility to distribute them directly to all the casting directors and studios or through a talent agent.
